Frequently Asked Questions
SD-WAN is an acronym for ‘Software Defined Wide Area Network’. The software on specific devices or virtual platforms connects, secures and controls the performance of Internet services.
This software typically creates a virtual secured private network across many geographical sites and can also manage multiple Internet services at each site in terms of automated redundancy and policy based routing.
OntheNet will help scope and define the ideal solution but most services include a selected Fortinet® FortiGate firewall at each premises, with either an Advanced or Unified Threat Management software licence included. That device is configured to be a firewall for those premises with its capability determined by the licence selected.
OntheNet also includes access to FortiManager to view the status of each site and Internet service connected. OntheNet manage FortiManager for customers to streamline provisioning of devices and network and policy updates.
OntheNet manage all devices remotely including moves, adds, changes requested via the OntheNet toolbox.
Internet services are purchased separately. The primary service is to be supplied by OntheNet. Failover 4G and a variety of Internet service technology types are available from OntheNet, often using other carrier networks for maximum diversity. Customers can supply their own 4G SIMs or secondary Internet services.
There are numerous policies that can be applied to each device to manage multiple Internet connections. Common configurations are a primary NBN service with 4G Failover, or a Business Fibre service and secondary NBN service. VoIP data and key business applications are often prioritised.
Yes. OntheNet can arrange installation and network smart hands nearly anywhere in Australia at competitive rates.
OntheNet will provide a fixed monthly price per site quote based on a 36 month term, usually with no upfront costs or annual licence renewals. There are many questions we ask to define the most appropriate firewall model, software licence and the ideal network and security policies for your business.
