This guide shows you how to configure Microsoft Outlook 2010 for Hosted Exchange.
Before you begin
Before you start configuring Outlook 2010 make sure you have the email address and password for the user account and that DNS requirements have been configured accordingly for the autodiscover record. It is possible to configure Outlook without autodiscover which is outlined below.
1. Start Windows and navigate to the Control Panel.
2. Double click on the Mail icon (this may be located under “User Accounts and Family Safety” on Windows 7)
3. Click on Email Accounts
4. Click on New to bring up the following window, select Email Account and then click Next
5. Fill in your Name, Email Address, and password and click Next for Autodiscover to finish the process
6. If you get the following pop-up message, tick “Don’t ask me about this website again” and then click Allow
7. Setup is complete.
1. Start Windows and navigate to the Control Panel.
2. Double click on the Mail icon (this may be located under “User Accounts and Family Safety” on Windows 7)
3. Click on Email Accounts
4. Click on New to bring up the following window, select Email Account and then click Next
5. Select Manually configure server settings or additional server types and click Next
6. Select Microsoft Exchange or compatible service then click Next
7. Enter server settings as follows
- Server: cas.the.net.au
- Tick Use Cached Exchange Mode, if you want a local copy of all mail on the computer
- User Name: enter your Exchange email address.
8. Click More Settings
9. Click Connection
10. Tick Connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP and then click on Exchange Proxy Settings
11. Enter exchange.the.net.au as the https:// entry and change Proxy authentication settings to Basic Authentication
12. Click OK, then OK again to exit More Settings.
13. Click on Check Names and your PC should make a connection and bring up a password prompt.
14. Enter your password. Once the connection has been successfully established, the User Name will be underlined.
15. Click Next and then Finish to complete the connection.
